NO, I’m not pregnant… just nauseous.
One of the many amusements of Fibromyalgia is the pretty consistent bouts of nausea or at times a general lack of appetite. Sometimes its because of medications, sometimes it’s just “because”. Breakfast can be the toughest meal to get down the gullet while also being the most valuable for fighting Fibro flare-ups. Feeling weak is part of the gig, but weakness from lack of eating isn’t helpful. So, having options that are protein rich, appealing, and non-aromatic is a must.
That’s where my favorite protein balls come in handy. These have antioxidant rich blueberries, nausea calming almond butter, and a touch of sweetness. That comes from a couple tablespoons of agave and the stevia used in Vega Vanilla Protein and Greens Powder.

The reason I am so “brand loyal” with this specific protein powder is in big part because it allows me to sneak in some veggie servings. That definitely helps keep me feeling full. It has less than 1 gram of sugar per serving, is plant based, and doesn’t have a wet sand girt texture. (Trust me when I say that when nausea is an issue, texture is more important than ever.) Read more about why choosing the right protein powder is so essential in my post (No) Energy Balls: Chocolate Banana Coco-Nut & Vanilla Almond Fig.
And these are your favorite, why?
Its simple, really. Three or four balls and a half a cup of fresh blueberries goes superbly with a stiff mug of coffee and is enough to help get me started in pushing through these difficult #Spoonie days.

- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients.
- Using your hands, mash together until all the protein powder has been absorbed and the oats are thoroughly mixed in.
