Easy as (Apple) Pie, Healthier Sparkling Cider

One of the things we always had on holidays was Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Cider. My brother could drink two bottles of that a day an be as happy as a clam. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how much sugar is in a small serving of it, and deemed it not worthy of my daily allotment of calories. (I’ll save those for the piece of red velvet cake I have waiting in the fridge!) The No Sugar Added Apple  Juice I used still had an incredible 30 grams of sugar for a small 8 oz serving! That is 7.5 teaspoons of sugar!!!! But, thinking about those warm Easter Sundays back home made me nostalgic for a taste of that sweet, perfumy mock champagne.

This is a lighter version of the classic that is so good, I’m drinking it as I type! Enjoy!



  • 4 oz Organic NO SUGAR ADDED Apple Juice
  • 8 oz club soda
  • a touch of cinnamon (optional)

Pour the juice into the bottom of a 14oz glass and mix in the cinnamon if using. Pour the club soda over top, holding the glass at a slight tilt. (This will keep your cider from going flat so quickly.) No need to stir.
